Time Horizon

Many people consider their age and risk tolerance to determine allocation but forget about the two most important factors.  What is the purpose of the investment account and when do you anticipate needing the money?

Your Values Matter

Every investment has an impact.  Each time you purchase or sell shares of a company, you are sending a message.  You have the right to remove companies that don’t match your values or add companies that you want to support.  Our portfolios are tailored to what is important to you.

Strong Companies

It has been our experience that strong companies make for strong investments.  This may appear to be obvious; however, we continue to review portfolios from outside investment firms which include companies that have consistently declining revenues, profits, and operating cash flow.  We believe that understanding a company’s balance sheet is imperative when making an investment selection.

Buy and Monitor vs. Buy and Hold

Many of us are familiar with “Buy and Hold Investing” in which you purchase an investment with the intent to hold it for a long period of time.  At The Dala Group, we invest with this same mindset by selecting companies and investments which we believe will continue to grow at a rate consistent with our client’s goals.  That being said, our world is constantly in-motion and the same is true for our investments.   We don’t always get it right and we accept the reality that surprises will happen.  Our commitment to you is that we will monitor your portfolios and make changes when our original investment thesis is no longer intact.

Fees and Trading Costs

Many individuals don’t know the costs they are paying on their investments because it may not be indicated on the statement.  In some cases, these fees can be as high as 1.5% in addition to what you are paying your advisor.  To make matters worse, many wealth management firms also pass on trading costs to their clients for the portfolio set-up, rebalancing, and recommended trades.  At The Dala Group, we believe in making it easy to understand your fees.  Our portfolios have low internal investment fees and the custodial transaction fees are already included in our managed account fee.

Tax Efficiency

Some investors don’t realize they could be paying unnecessary taxes on their non-retirement investment accounts.  Certain investment vehicles such as mutual funds and alternative investments can result in you paying a higher tax bill with no added value to your account balance.  In addition, there may be an opportunity for tax savings by utilizing a tax-loss harvesting strategy within these accounts.
